What Do You Want More of in 2016

I hope your New Year is off to a wonderful start.

Whether you write resolutions or not, this is a great time to reflect on:

What do you really, really want this year?

How do you want to feel?

What would make you feel most alive?

It’s time to dream big.

This year my big goal is to add more “Vitamin N” into my life.

“Vitamin N”, a term created by “Last Child in The Woods” author Richard Louv, stands for a dose of Nature.

Nature has long been my special place. I feel most alive when I am in the woods. I know when I don’t get enough time in nature I feel more stressed and depressed.

In addition to spending more time on local trails, I have planned some big adventures to make 2016 a big year for “Vitamin N.”

On a personal level I will adding in more “Vitamin N” by:

▪ Preparing for and going on my first backpacking trip with my 9 year old son. He wants to take 6 months off from school to hike all 2,160 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Although this sounds tempting, we agreed on starting with a 2-3 day hike on the Maryland portion of the trail.

▪ Traveling with my family to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. I have never been to either place and am super excited to be going during the National Park Service Centennial Celebration.

▪ Making a solo pilgrimage back to the Black Hills of South Dakota. The Black Hills are very special and sacred to me. I fell in love with the area when I worked as a National Park Ranger at Jewel Cave over 20 years ago. For years I have been longing to go back and this year I am making it happen!

In my business I will be adding more “Vitamin N” by creating:

▪ Walk and Talk Coaching Sessions

▪ Group events and programs involving time in Nature

Stay tuned as I get ready to share more about these programs in the Spring!

I believe we need nature more than ever.

▪ The more stress in our lives, the more time we need in nature.

▪ The more time we spend on electronics, the more time we need in nature.

▪ The more processed our food has become, the more time we need in nature.

▪ The more we feel at war with our bodies, the more time we need nature.

▪ The more burned out and tired we feel, the more time we need in nature.

Thank you for reading my vision for 2016. I am curious, what do you want to do in 2016?
