Let Nature Nourish You

After a cold and snowy start, it’s finally starting to feel like spring. I love this time of year. It makes me feel so alive. How about you?

Spring is the time of renewal and rebirth. It’s the time of year that invites us to begin again.

The buds on the trees, the flowers blooming, and the birds returning to build their nests remind us of our own potential to grow and begin again.

This is my favorite time of year to go for walks in the woods. Witnessing nature come alive again reminds me to let go of the stagnant energy of the winter and recommit to taking care of myself.

Spending time in nature is truly nourishing. It feeds our soul and awakens our senses in a way no food could ever do.

When we spend too much time indoors we forget how amazing we can feel when we spend time in nature. You don’t need to go to the woods to experience the power of nature. All you have to do is go outside and let nature nourish you.

Here are a few ways you can awaken your senses and experience nature’s nourishing power:

* Step outside and notice all the vibrant colors around you. Get close and personal with a tree, flower, moss, or anything else that captures your attention and spend a few minutes really drinking in all the beauty.

* Sit down or stand still and close your eyes. Listen to all the sounds around you. How many different sounds can you hear? This is especially fun to do early in the morning when the birds sing their “dawn chorus.”

* Pay attention to how the sun feels on your body. Notice how the breeze feels against your skin.

* Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Focus on the smells around you. This simple exercise feels like a moment of meditation.

* Eat greens and make green smoothies. Your body craves real food provided for you by nature. This is one way you can let nature nourish you without stepping out the door.

Wishing you a happy and nourishing spring!
